Lil Kim Still Not Happy!

Even after the world found out how upset Lil Kim was after she found out how she was portrayed in the movie Notorious, she was still not having it.

Lil Kim even went as far as calling Naturi Haughton, who played Lil Kim in the biopic, “dreadful”. Lil Kim has even going off with claims such as “I wasn’t even able to choose who I wanted to portray me in this movie… I would have never picked Naturi, she doesn’t have a Lil Kim aura at all! She looks nothing like I looked back then. We have NO similarities.”

Is Lil Kim wanting to sue the makers of the movie because she claims she isn’t getting paid for royalties? Lil Kim had this to say at a recent interview: ““Another thing is, I have been dealing with legal matters as far as them not wanting to pay me.. for this movie, got a lawyer involved..”

Does Haughton look like the Queen Bee herself?

You be the judge!

“Notorious” Box Office Hit?

Notorious, a biopic about rapper Notorious B.I.G, earned $21.5 million on opening weekend. For those who have not heard, Notorious is a movie about rapping legend, Notorious B.I.G. with Jamal Woolard playing the East-coast heavyset artist. The film is kind of like a biography, starting from his drug dealing days in Brooklyn to becoming the most famed rap artist in the world.

Many fans of the artist, who went to see the movie, had mixed reviews. One reviewer said that the movie was utterly boring and that the actors did not portray the other artists as they were in real life. If you remember from a previous blog, Lil Kim was not impressed by the way she was portrayed in the movie.

So will it be a Box Office hit? That’s up to My Bloody Valentine, which beat Notorious with $21.9 million.

Lil Kim Isn’t Impressed!

NEW YORK (AP) - Lil Kim was a big part of the Notorious B.I.G.’s life, but she’s not happy about the way she’s portrayed in the new biopic about the late rapper.

The Notorious B.I.G. was Lil Kim’s mentor and was also romantically linked to the rapper. Their sometimes rocky relationship is depicted in the new movie “Notorious,” but Lil Kim doesn’t think it’s very accurate.

In a statement, she said: “The film studio and producers involved were more concerned about painting me as a ‘character’ to create a more interesting story line instead of a person with talent, self-respect and who was able to achieve her own career success through hard work.”

She added: “Even though my relationship with Big was at times very difficult and complicated (as with most relationships we have all experienced at one time or another), it was also genuine and built on great admiration and love for each other. Regardless of the many lies in the movie and false portrayal of me to help carry a story line through, I will still continue to carry his legacy through my hard work and music.”

But Wallace’s mother, Voletta Wallace, dismissed Lil Kim’s criticisms of the movie in an interview on Monday.

“This is not a Lil Kim movie,” she said. “This is a Christopher Wallace movie. It has nothing to do with Lil Kim. If she’s disappointed and upset, that is her problem.”

At the film’s New York premiere last week, “Notorious” screenwriter Cheo Hodari Coker said he understands why Lil Kim might not like the film, but added: “I think that Naturi (Naughton) did a great job playing Kim. I think people are going to be a lot more sympathetic towards (Lil Kim) after seeing the movie.”

Wayne Barrow - Biggie’s former manager and a producer on the movie - expressed less patience with Kim’s attitude.

“Our job as producers … was to deliver for three individuals. That’s his mom and his two children. Everybody else: Stand in line, buy a ticket and enjoy the show.”

“Notorious” chronicles the life and untimely death of the Notorious B.I.G., who was shot to death in 1997 and remains one of rap’s most important figures. It opens in theaters this Friday.

Now, I understand that Lil Kim is not happy, but she should be proud that Biggie is finally getting the credit he deserves. He’s a great lyricist and one of the greatest of our times. Not everyone is portrayed in the movies as they are in real life. It’s a movie, not a documentary of her life. It’s about Biggie, not Lil Kim.

10 Years Ago Today

I don’t know about you, but I often listen to a current single and think back what the single would have done 10 years ago from the time I was listening to them. So, I decided to look back on the January 9th song from 1999. Does anyone remember what that hit was?

Many people may not remember, but starting on January 2nd (of 1999), R&B crooner Deborah Cox made it onto the charts with an amazing song called “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here”. The single stayed on the chart with an amazingly 6 weeks  on the charts.

But what took Cox’s place? Whitney Houston’s “Heartbreak Hotel” featuring Faith Evans and Kelly Price. They ripped through the charts for 7 straight weeks.

Who knew that 10 years down the road, music would have changed so much?

First #1 Song of 2009

While a lot of the world was getting drunk on New Years Eve or watching the ball drop in Times Square, Beyonce was making her way up the Billboard Hot 100. Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) was rated as the number 1 single of January 2009 even before the time hit midnight. Last week, Single Ladies was still rated as the most popular single with 11 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Beyonce better watch out because Lady Gaga feat. Colby O’Donnis  is holding at a steady number 2 spot with Just Dance with T.I.’s Live Your Life feat. Rihianna bring up the rear at a strong number 3.

Will Beyonce keep her throne at number 1 or will she be blind-sided by Lady Gaga or T.I.? Who knows.
